OBIT: Arthur "Shorty" Canada, 68, Corbin, passed away Tuesday night, March 26, 2013, at his home. He was a member of Youngs Creek Baptist Church.
Born Oct. 25, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Herman and Goldie Canada.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Canada.
He is survived by his beloved wife Patty. On March 23, 2013, Arthur and Patty celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and that day came as Arthur's answered prayer from God. Other survivors include his brother, Archie Canada and wife Laveta of Corbin; his sister Arlean Messer and husband Dick of Corbin; and two special loved ones Missy and Brian Beams, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Hodge, the Rev. Lester Cox and the Rev. Justin Spires officiating. Burial will follow in Youngs Creek Cemetery in Williamsburg. Active pallbearers will be Ben Taylor, Frank Garnett, Larry Thacker, Ray Lanham, Tim Gibbs and Martin Rains. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Ball, Simon Vanderpool Jr, Lester Canada, Mart Baird, Bill McKinney, Rick Hammons, Brian Beams and Charles Tharpe.
