Gatha Hutchinson, 96, a life long Rush County resident, passed away in Rushville on March 25, 2013. She was born February 23, 1917 in Bent, KY. to Virgil & Hester (Childers) Whitaker.
Gatha married Omar S. Hutchinson on October 5, 1935 and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1987.
She worked as a seamstress for 28 years at Schnadig Corporation, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Church of God in Rushville where she was involved with the W.C.G. group. She also did volunteer work with Miller's Merry Manor, the Rush County Senior Center, Rush Memorial Hospital Auxillary, Walker Twp. Conservation Club, Manilla Volunteer Fireman Ladies Aux. and the Rushville Eagles Ladies Aux.
Survivors include a son, William H. & wife Andrea Hutchinson of Syracuse, a daughter, Linda M. & husband Larry Martin of Shelbyville, a sister, Ruby Hauk of Rushville, 6 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Howard, a daughter-in-law, Pat Hutchinson, sisters, Ila Smith & Letha Whitaker, a brother, William Whitaker and a grandson, Howard Hutchinson, Jr.
Services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 30 at the First Church of God in Rushville with Rev.'s Garry Jordan & Charles Justice presiding.
Friends are welcome to visit at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, on Friday evening from 4-7PM.
Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
