Mr. Mitchell was a member of Providence church, northeast of Waverly, but when the organization disbanded he moved his membership to the Congregational Church in this city and remained an active member until his last illness. On April 23, 1882, he was married to Sarah Parkin and to this union three children were born Hiram, Walter C., and Pearl. Walter died in Iowa on February 20, 1923.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, son, Hiram; daughter, Mrs. Frank O. Brown; brother, John, all of Waverly; six grandchildren, Mrs. Russell Keltner, Mrs. John Votsmeier, Velma, Geraldine, Marian and Warren Mitchell; and two great grandchildren, Wanda and Bobby Votsmeier.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Congregational church, the pastor, Rev. Matthew Kelly, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. J. Campbell.
Burial was in East Cemetery.
