He was united in marriage to Winna Dyer, in 1859, she having preceded him in death seven years ago. To this union were born two children, one daughter, Alice, who died in infancy, and one son, J. W. Mitchell, of Springfield, with whom he made his home. He was a member of the Baptist church of New Berlin.
Mr. Mitchell died Thursday, April 1, 1926, at 3 p.m., at the home of his son, J. W. Mitchell, in Springfield.
He is survived by his son, two granddaughters, Mary Lou and Alice Mae Mitchell; two brothers, John and Samuel Mitchell, both of near Waverly; also a host of relatives and friends who mourn his death.
The remains were brought to Waverly Friday afternoon, and taken to the home of Miss Ruth Mitchell, a niece of the deceased, and funeral services held at the residence Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, in charge of Rev. F. S. Tincher, pastor of the Congregational church.
