More than twenty years beyond man's allotted "three score and ten," Antoine LaBarge, Sr., Tupper Lake's oldest resident, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Napoleon Grenier, on Main street, Faust, about 9:30 o'clock Tuesday night. He had passed his 91st birthday. Mr. LaBarge, a familiar figure in Faust for' many years, had been active and had shown keen interest In life up till a few years ago. When nearing 90 he bad put in a garden at the home In Faust. About a year ago, however, he suffered a slight stroke, from the effects of which he never recovered. For the pant three months he was confined to bed. He was born on January 2nd, 1845, at Howick, Quebec, and spent his boyhood in that village. When be was about 18 the family moved to Forest, N. Y., where they resided for many years. About 65 years Ago he married Miss Mary Lore there and several of their ten children were born at Forest. Mr. LaBarge subsequently resided in Brandon, Derrick and other northern villages before coming to Tupper Lake about 28 years ago. For a number of years he was custodian at Faust grammar school, a post held by his son, Antoine LaBarge, still. Prior to his death there were four generations of the LaBarge family residing here. Surviving him are no fewer than 94 direct descendants, most of whom make their home here in Tupper Lake. There are six of his 10 children, 66 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Four sons make their homes in Faust, Antoine, John, William and Charles LaBarge; of the two living daughters, Mrs. Napoleon Grenier resides in Faust and Mrs. E. B. Woods In Kitchener, Ontario. A brother, John LaBarge, lives at Mooers Forks, N. Y. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock In Faust Holy Name Church. Burial will be In Holy Name Cemetery.
