Born in New Sharon, Iowa, he served in the Army during World War II and moved to Salem in 1946. He married Lu (Roth) in 1948 in Salem and worked for the state of Oregon as a meat inspector, retiring in 1974. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; son, Paul of Burns; sister, Donna Kittrell of Elk City, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
Visiting will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Interment will be at City View Cemetery.
