LULA-Services for Barbara Jeanne McMeans, 79, Lula, are 10 a.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Glen Russell will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
Mrs. McMeans died Friday, March 22, 2013, at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1933, to Charley and Addie Doyle Davis at Stonewall. She graduated from Stonewall High School. Mrs. McMeans and her husband returned to this area in 1997 from Velma. She served on many community committees, loved to travel and hosted family birthdays and reunions at her home. Mrs. McMeans was a homemaker and affiliated with the Baptist church.
She and J.L. McMeans were married Nov. 24, 1952, at Van Buren, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband, J.L., of the home; two sons, Billy McMeans, Oklahoma City, and Tony McMeans, Velma; one brother, John Davis, Lula; three sisters, Anne Johnson, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Pat Fortner, and husband Kenneth, Lula, and Kay Henry and husband Wayne, Owl Creek; a sister-in-law, Jean Wofford, Lula; a granddaughter, Melody Ruiz and husband John, Dickson; a great-granddaughter, Mia Ruiz, Dickson; and special friends, Norman and Sylvia Miller, Clarita.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leslie Charles McMeans; a brother, Jimmy Davis; and a sister, Virginia Binger.
Bearers are Kenny Fortner, Charles Henry, Doyne Wofford, Robert York, Charley Davis and Kim Johnson.
