RITTMAN - Leonard G. Over, 74, Warren St., Rittman, died Wednesday afternoon at his home from an apparent heart attack.
Services will be Saturday at the United Methodist Church with Rev. William A. Seith and Rev. James E. Watt officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call Friday at Gillman Funeral Home and hour before services at the church. Masonic services will be held Friday at the funeral home.
He was born in Burbank on May 11, 1889 and lived most of his life in Rittman. He was a graduate of Ohio University where he played varsity baseball for three years and was a life member of the Varsity, O. Inter-Collegiate Athletics. He had been chief accountant at the Packaging Corp. of America for 35 years until retiring in 1965. He also had been Rittman City Treasurer for the past 16 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a charter member and long-time secretary of Rittman Lions Club, a charter member and three time Past Master of Carl W. Ellenwood Masonic Lodge, a member and three time Past Patron of Rittman Chapter 29 OES, a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Cleveland, and a member of Delta Sigma PI Fraternity.
Surviving are his wife, Hilda; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Caulkins of Delaware, a step son and eleven grandchildren.
A son, Gene, died in 1966.
