ALFRED EDWARD ASH, 88, of S. Adams St., died at General Hospital Friday evening following an extended illness.
Mr. Ash was born in Alpena County, Michigan, July 20, 1877, and had lived in Mansfield for six years.
He was a veteran of the Spanish-American Ward. In Michigan he served as county treasurer, as city clerk and as manager of the office of the county road commission.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Boyer Ash, whom he married in 1948; two sons, Alvin A. Ash of Alpena, and William J. Ash of Inkster, Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Miners of Jacksonville, FL; three step-daughters, Miss Lucile Boyer at home, Mrs. Michael Doerr of Youngstown, and Mrs. Robert Rush of Euclid.
A daughter, Mrs. Norma Moule, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Finefrock and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert F. Haskins, pastor of the Mayflower Memorial Congregational church officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
