HELEN CHAPMAN WELCH DIES

At her home in this village last week, Mrs. Helen Chapman Welch answered the final summons and passed through the valled of the shadows, and by her passing a true christian [sic] woman has gone to her reward. The deceased was born in Novi township December 27th, 1843, being one of nine children to bless the pioneer home of her parents. At the death of her mother she took her place in the home and devoted her life unselfishly to the loved ones of the home circle. In the fall of 1890 she was united in marriage to Jackson Welch and since that time has resided here. Her whole life was spent in this community, where she endeared herself to a large circle of friends.

Aftr [sic] Mr. Welch's death, nine years ago, she lived with her brother, the late Randall Chapman. She was a member of the Baptist church for 29 years and took an active part in its work until shortly before her death. Funeral services were held at the home on Dunlap street last Saturday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. H. Grimwood. Burial took place at Novi. She is survived by two brothers and one sister.
