Wood named the Packsville post office on November 12, 1919 when he applied and received the post master job at Jarrolds Valley now Packsville. The post office was in his store that he operated in Packsville, Raleigh County, WV. The town was named Packsville after Sylvester Pack a teacher who build homes during summer recesses. Wood later moved to Dry Creek and had a store on RT. 3 below the Ballard Family Cemetery at Dry Creek.

Wood is resting in the Peace chapel in the Blue Ridge Cemetary in Prosperity WV. The site of his store at Dry Creek has been tore down as well as the store in Packsville. The home he and Rusha lived at Dry Creek is still standing but someone else lives there.
