Maria Ramirez Zavala, 81, entered eternity on March 6, 2013. She was born on February 16, 1932 in Calvert, Texas to Enrique and Francisca Garcia Zavala. Having proudly worked as a Nurse's aide, caring for the sick for many years she leaves a legacy of love and service to the community having volunteered for the Red Cross; member of the Gulf Coast Council of La Raza Runaway Center, and taking part in implementing the Meals on Wheels in the community of Robstown. She was a devout Catholic and member of the Marianas at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

She goes home to reunite with her parents, her husband, Jose Angel Zavala Sr., one son, Ricardo Zavala Sr., grandson, Isidro Salinas, her brothers, Raymond, Carlos, Jose, Raul, Jesus, Hilario Ramirez; great-granddaughter, Adaline Nicole Vasquez and great-grandson, Matthew Molina whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Angel (Marcelo) Mata, Julia (Dale) Leonard, Jose Angel Jr. (Yolanda) Zavala, Irma (Pete) Oliva, Norma (Jesus Jr.) Rojas, Rene Zavala, Sr., Amanda (Steve Sr.) Carrion, and Melinda Z. Loa; two brothers, Tomas Ramirez Sr. and Roberto Ramirez; one sister, Lucy Arellano, 35 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Ramon Funeral Home in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Special Thanks to Real Home Health, Nurses on Wheels Hospice and to her first born granddaughter, Delma Salinas Jaquez who was her caregiver for 13 ½ years.
