French Willard Spraker, 71, of Wytheville died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Tim Worgan and the Rev. Jeff Callahan officiating. Interment will be in the Davis Cemetery. He was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Wythe County, a son of the late French A. and Gladys Kincer Spraker. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he served as assistant treasurer. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Pulaski Furniture Company. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Doris Fisher Spraker of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bill Akers of Wytheville; mother-in-law, Lucille Fisher of Wytheville; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue and David Jones, Nancy and James Scott, all of Wytheville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, from noon to 2 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home or anytime at the home or the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Bill Akers. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Davis Cemetery Fund, c/o Nancy Scott, 672 Slate Spring Branch Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
