Alfonso Macias Jr "Ponch", devoted son and brother passed away on September 2, 2002 after a long and valiant struggle. Ponch was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Alfonso and Marty Macias on March 22, 1979. It was obvious to all that he brought great joy to his family and and in turn he would often say that he was lucky to have such a fine family. He was a selfless young man and he made it his life mission to make sure his family would be okay. Ponch was keenly intelligent and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved telling funny stories and he would delight in telling them to his family and friends. He would often say, "This is a story for my notebook". He also took joy in telling jokes. His sister would try to make up her own jokes to impress him. Her punch lines were always cheezy, but he would always tell her, "It's okay Chick, It's the thought that counts". Ponch was a whiz when it came to Mathematics and electronic devices. His family often referred to him as their "Mathmatician". His mother would always comment that the family did not need a calculator as they had their own mathematician in the house. His dad often gave him complicated math problems and was always amazed that he not only got the right answer, but calculated the equation quickly. His sister fondly remembers when he taught her to master algebraic graphing when she was in hight school. He was able to do that despite the fact that he had not encountered algebra before.
