He was a member and deacon of Bayview Baptist Church. He retired from U.S. Steel with 42 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Frank Stokes and Barbara Stokes, his wife, Orline Stokes, brothers Perry Stokes, and Roland Stokes.
He was a Christian man that strongly believed in having God's love, joy, and peace in life.
