My (maternal) Grandma Ruthie...a remarkably strong woman.

Ruth was a bookkeeper for many years, working for several companies in the Kansas City area, including Albert Bell's, The Collar Company and Grandview Baptist Church.

She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church most of her life and played the piano at the Sunday services. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Independence, KS. Her organ, which was her pride and joy, was donated to this church after her passing.

Grandma was very fastidious when it came to everything. The only time she wasn't dressed to the nines, was when she was going fishing. She loved to fish! She rarely caught anything, but that was okay because she didn't like eating fish.

She always wore brooches and clip-on earrings. My Aunt Cathy has a piece of artwork made from some of Grandma's brooches and earrings.

She was an excellent cook and made the best home-made noodles ever. But a family get-together wasn't complete without Grandma's home-made rolls! I miss them so much.

She loved flowers, especially tulips and peonies. She had some beautiful peony bushes and one time, I thought I'd surprise her by picking all the peonies and bringing them to her. I think she would've been happier had they been bloomed out first! One thing that upset her when she moved from Kansas City to Independence was they paved over her front yard and her tulips. She said she hoped her tulips bloomed and broke through the concrete!

At the age of 71, Grandma went to sleep one night and never woke up. When my brother found her, she had a smile on her face.

Wife of Aubrey "Ben"; mother of Aubrey (Paul), Peggy, Charles, Nancy, Patty, Gary, Cathy Sue and Stephen.

Cause of death: Cardiac Arrest
