"Our friend, William J. Cully, of Union Township, evidently has corn beyond the reach of frost. Last week he gathered from a field some perfectly ripe ears and Mrs. Cully grated them into meal in the old fashioned way. Now Mr. Cully has reason to boast that he has eaten mush and milk made from the meal of this year's corn."

Obituary for William J. Cully of Newark Daily Advocate of Monday, January 25, 1897:

"WILLIAM J. CULLY. A Prominent and Popular Licking County Man Died Saturday Night. Mr. William J. Cully, brother of Mr. James A. Cully, and one of the most prominent and wealthy men of Licking County, died at 8 o'clock Saturday evening at his home in Hebron. Mr. Cully was 69 years of age. He leaves a widow, two daughters and three sons. The children are: Mrs. Frank Aid of Granville, Miss Mamie and Messrs. Fred, George and Robert Cully of Hebron. The funeral will take place at the family residence in Hebron at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Friends of the family are invited to attend the service."
