Glenice Blankenship joined her Lord on March 9, 2013, at the age of 91.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1921, in Lithia Springs, Ga., to Emory and Lillian Allen and was the eldest of nine children. Glenice married Nelson "Cotton" Blankenship on Jan. 10, 1942, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. She served in various departments, including being the outreach leader of Lydia Ruth's Sunday school class, and a cradle roll leader of newborns.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Cotton Blankenship; parents, Emory and Lillian Allen; sisters, Irene Swinney and Lynn Holcomb; brothers, Harold J. Allen, Dana Allen and Robert Lee Allen.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Baird and Ann Williams (husband, F.T.); two grandchildren, Todd Williams (wife, Teresa) and Tara Lemmel (husband, Chad); three great-grandchildren, Johnathon and Noah Williams, and Liam Lemmel; brothers, Billy W. Allen, Willie F. Allen, Jimmy C. Allen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Burrows Overton Funeral Home in Overton at 11 a.m. and will be officiated by Bro. Tommy Harden of Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Final resting place will be in Mason Cemetery in Arp.

The family would like to thank caregivers, Rose and Alicia for the exceptional care they provided to our precious loved one.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity or church.
