Aged Farmer Succumbs After a Long Illness Caused by Rheumatism.

Had Lived in Owen Twenty-Five Years - Funeral to be Held Monday Forenoon.

Alexander Geddes, one of the old residents of Owen township and who was highly regarded in that community, where he had lived for 25 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Wishop, at 10:30 Friday night.
For several years Mr. Geddes had suffered from rheumatism and for a large part of that period was nearly helpless. His heart became affected and for some time a fatal termination of his illness had been expected.
Mr. Geddes was a Scotchman and his life exemplified many of the virtues of the Scotch character. He was born in Aberdeenshire April 13, 1822. In 1854 he came to America and made his home in New York state. Twenty-five years ago he moved into Owen township, where he had since resided. He leaves a widow and eight children. The larter are James Geddes of Minneapolis, Mrs. J.M. Hill of Cherokee, Ia., Mrs. D.W. Halley, Mrs. A. Wishop and Mrs. A. Patterson, of Owen; William Geddes of New Milford, Mrs. S.D. Bartholemew of Guilford and Robert Geddes of Kishwaukee.
Mr. Geddes was a follower of the Presbyterian church and at one time was a member of the First Presbyterian society of this city. Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. and Mr. Wishop at 10:30 Monday forenoon, the Rev. Joseph Brewster of Owen officiating.
