Barbara Brozek, 81, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her home in Des Moines. A graveside service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Barbara was born February 4, 1932 in Knoxville, Iowa to Lester and Bernice Harmon. She attended East High School and lived on the Eastside of Des Moines her entire adult life. Barbara liked family gatherings, watching old western movies and traveling to Wisconsin and Missouri. She especially enjoyed spending time at the family lake home on Lake Ponderosa, and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include her companion, Brett Denison of Des Moines; daughters: Sherry (Ray) Harmison of Runnells, Teresa (Jerry Graves) Kimmel of Des Moines, Pam (Rich Kilgore) Long of Chariton; grandchildren: Jason (Heather) Cole of Truro, Jamie (Ty) Eitel of Redfield, Justin (Kendra) Kimmel of Des Moines, Mandy (Nick) Piper of Grovetown, GA, Brenna (Travis Booth) Kimmel of Des Moines, Karisa (Zach Phelps) Kimmel of Des Moines, Dyllon Long of Chariton; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Al Hopkins of Kansas City, MO; sister, Dorothy Hopkins of Moline, IL; and her beloved four legged companion, "Little Bit". Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin R. Brozek; son, Michael Brozek and brother, Richard Middaugh.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Barb will be greatly missed by all that knew that smile when she entered a room.
