Newton Pioneer Dead
Guenther Mundt, a pioneer resident of Newton, died last night at the
advanced age of 70 years. He had been a resident of the county since
boyhood. A widow, two sons and a daughter survive. The funeral will
be held Tuesday at Newton.

The late Guenther Mundt of New Holstein, brief mention of whose death
was made by the Herald Saturday was the first white child born in the
town of Newton. Mr. Mundt was born in December 1847 ? years ago and
the records show that he was the first birth of a white child there.
He had spent all of his life in the county. The funeral of Mr. Mundt
will be held tomorrow. He is survived by a widow, two sons and a
daughter.
