Mrs. Charles Dykstra passed away at her home in Rock Valley at 12:05 Sunday noon after a long illness. She has been confined to her bed since October 21.

Aartje Van Surksum was born at Orange City in Sioux County September 9, 1875.

She was married to Charles Dykstra at LeMars over 52 years ago. The couple lived around this county for the past 38 years.

Seven children were born to this union, six of whom survive their mother. One daughter died when ten years old. Her husband passed away December 27, 1939.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons namely: Johanna, Mrs, John Wynia of Rock Valley; Dena, Mrs. John Van Geldeen of Sanborn; John C. of Rock Valley; Gerrit and Charles of Bellflower, Calif.; and Jessie, Mrs. Martin Dykstra of Rock Valley.

She also leaves one brother, William Van Surksum of Hospers, four half sisters, Mrs. John Bothof of Chandler, Minnn,; Mrs. Alex Klein of Hospers; Mrs. Jake Kort of Edgerton, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Bloemendaal of Orange City; four half brothers, Henry Van Surksum of Leota, Minn,; Cornie Van Surksum of Alton; Ed Van Surksum of Hospers and Gerrit Van Surksum of Rock Valley. There are eight grandchildren.

One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the home and 1:30 o'clock at the First Ref. church.
