He married Gertrude Anne McGee on May 10, 1882 in Plainfield, NJ. and the couple moved back to Philadelphia, PA. where they had three children Myron G. born and died May 28, 1883, Charlotte Garwood born Dec. 23, 1885 and Margaret Garwood born Oct. 29, 1891. After Edwards untimely death his wife and daughters spent much of their time living in Italy.
