Mrs. Matthews for several years had been afflicted with asthma. A few months ago she was declared incompetent to manage her own affairs and Charles E. Close was appointed her guardian.
She leaves five sons - James V.P., John V. P., William, Thomas V.P. and Jacob V.P. and one daughter.
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. Samuel Bower officiating.
Interment was in the Van Pelt Burying Ground.
