Dale Kenneth Fink, age 67, of Sergeant Bluff, IA entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family at St. Luke's Hospital on Saturday March 2nd, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff with Rev. Tim Schiller officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6th with family present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. followed by a prayer service at 8:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Boulevard in Sioux City, IA.

Military graveside rites conducted by the US Air Force will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Delmont, SD at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday. Friends and family are welcome to join in a time of fellowship celebrating Dale's life at the Delmont Community Center following the burial.

Dale was a resident of Sergeant Bluff, IA and was born in Parkston, SD June 25, 1945 to the late Michael and Martha (Albrecht) Fink of rural Delmont, SD. On January 2, 1972, Dale was united in marriage to Loralee Wenzel of Delmont. They were blessed with one son, Michael.

Dale grew up on the family farm north of Delmont and graduated from Delmont High School in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he spent several years stationed in Greece.

After completing his military service, Dale received degrees in Government, Russian, History, and Economics from the University of South Dakota.

He was retired at the time of his death and had spent most of his professional career working for various financial institutions. Up until his retirement in 2009 he had been an Assistant Vice President for 1st Financial Bank in Dakota Dunes, SD.

Dale was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Oakland Athletics and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He enjoyed planning family vacations and researching family genealogy. He was fortunate to have been able to combine these hobbies through travel with extended family to Germany.

In 2009 Dale was stricken with two ruptured brain aneurysms and was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer in 2011. His faith gave him the strength and courage to fight through these challenging years.

Survivors include his wife, Loralee, Sergeant Bluff, IA; son Michael Fink and wife Brooke (Lawrenson), grandchildren Emma and Jackson, Rochester, MN; three sisters, Delores Catherman and her husband Ed, Golden, CO; Elvira Van Roy and her husband, Dan, Omaha, NE, and Viola Bitterman, Iowa City, IA; three brothers, Elmer Fink, Plano, TX, Edwin Fink, Bismarck, ND, and David Fink and his wife Sandra, Tillson, NY, sister-in-law Sharon Myers and husband Ross, St. Johns, MI; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Norman in 2012, and a brother Allan in infancy.
