Forest Elmo Stewart, fourth child and third son of Archibald and Florence Anderson Stewart was born on June 19, 1890 near Villisca, Iowa. His early schooling was I rural schools in Iowa: he attended high school in Tina after the family moved to Missouri in 1902. In W WI, Forest enlisted in the Navy and served in the Navy Aviation with rank of Chief Quartermaster. He served 6 months of Foreign Service in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia, Canada.
After his discharge, he returned to his home in Missouri, and was accepted in the U. S. Postal Services a rural carrier. This was in day before hard surface roads and the 24-mile route had to be made with horse and buggy, or horseback. Skilled in carpentry, Forest built a home there. The family moved to Carrollton in 1934, where Jessie died on October 4, 1934. Glendon's death occurred in January 1937.
In 1940, Forest and Maurine Settles were married in Carrollton. Their three Children were born there: Joan, who died in infancy, Jimmie and Peggy Sue.
As an avid fisherman, Forest knew the best lakes and rivers for angling. He possessed a happy disposition: his enthusiasm and zest were obvious in any projects in which he was involved.
