Myrle E. Schulmeister, 86, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Thursday morning, November 29, 2012, at West Village Care Center in Independence, Iowa. Myrle Eileen Cornwell was born February 20, 1926, at Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Wenger) Cornwell.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Rev. Paul McManus officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.m. on Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Scripture Service: 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

She received her education from the Independence schools. Myrle owned and operated motels in Hampton, Clarion and Marshalltown. She returned to live in Oelwein 25 years ago. Myrle was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, making potholders for everyone, watching old western movies and baking fresh cinnamon rolls.

Myrle was united in marriage on September 17, 1945 to Jacob Leneus Schulmeister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.

Myrle is survived by her 4 Sons, Ed (Pat) Schulmeister of Oelwein, Jacob (Carmon) Schulmeister of Independence, Tom (Julie) Schulmeister of Oelwein and Robert (Cheryl) Schulmeister of Oelwein; 12 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren; 3 Sisters, Lucille Hall of Independence, Millie Kinger of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Irene Butterfield of Independence; and 4 Brothers, Ed (Phyllis) Cornwell of Shawnee, Kansas, Bob (Frances) Cornwell of Boise, Idaho Jim Cornwell of Corpus Christi, Texas and Walt (Dorothy) Cornwell of Enid, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband in 1967; Daughter, Nancy Ann Schulmeister; and 3 Sisters, Martha Long, Myrtle Hind and Ruth Stevens.
