Almon Pitcher Ashley is the son of Stephen and Roxana (Pitcher) Ashley. He married Huldah Ferris on 11 Sep 1842 in Yorkville, IL. Huldah is the daughter of Jonathan Reed Ferris and Lydia Ricketson. Huldah and Almon had six children: Alice, Ellen, Stephen, Lucius, Lydia and Myron.

Almon is the grandson of Reuben Pitcher (1763-1844) who served as a private in 1779 in Captain Preserved Leonard's company, Colonel Elisha Porter's Hampshire County regiment during the American Revolution.
