Mary was the only child of her parents, Tilman and Eliza Jane Knox. When a young girl she moved with her parents to Manchester Township, Morgan County, where she met and married Jasper Wickersham. Her father and his second wife are buried in Robinson Cemetery in Bristol Township, Morgan County, Ohio. Her mother is buried in Cross Roads Cemetery.

OBITUARY:
Mrs. Mary Wickersham, aged 85 years, passed away at her home in Center Township, Morgan County, Ohio, on Wednesday, September 29, 1937, at 2:15 A.M.
Mrs. Wickersham was the daughter of Tellman (Tilman) and Eliza Jane Abbott Knox. She was born at Rolling Plains, Illinois, on January 25, 1852. In the year 1871, on June 1, she was united in marriage with Jasper Wickersham. Mr. Wickersham died on August 10, 1932.
Mrs. Wickersham spent the greater part of her life in the community in which she lived, endeavoring to be a help to others. She was always ready to assist those in need, giving a home and welcome to several nephews and nieces. She was a devoted wife, a kind mother, a good neighbor and a friend to all who knew her.
Two sons and three daughters deeply mourn the death of their mother. They are Charles Wickersham, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Herschel Wickersham, of unionville; Mrs. Anna Foster and Mrs. Alice Murray, both of McConnelsville; and Mrs. Minnie Walters, who lives in the family home. A daughter, Mrs. Laura Searight, died in 1917. There are 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The half-sister and half-brother of the deceased are Mrs. Margaret Davis, George Knox, and John Knox.
Mrs. Wickersham was a devout believer in the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Cross Roads.
