Mrs. Christensen Rites Held Here

Mrs. Edith Christensen, 80, died Thursday in the Haywood nursing home at Emmetsburg following several months illness. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church here Sunday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. E.C. Boulton, officiating. Mrs. Donald Brent was soloist and Wm. Mekemson was organist. Casket bearers were Jerry BLaha, John Pascal, Hans Dale, Lester Spangler, Clifford Slayton and Roy Depew. Burial was in Summit Hill Cemetery.

Edith Kerr Christensen was born Apr. 19, 1882 at Newton, Iowa and she moved to Rolfe with her parents in 1889. She was united in marriage with Jens Christensen at Havelock in 1902 and they lived in Pocahontas county their entire married life. Mr. Christensen died in 1948, and Mrs. Christensen continued to make her home here until her health failed.

Survivors include an adopted son, Richard Christensen of Spanaway, Wash.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Carrie Hammond of Springdale, Ark.; 5 grandchildren; four sisters and one brother, Mrs. Vera Bartley and Floyd Kerr of Kelso, Wash.; Mrs. Myrtle Parrish of Long View, Wash.; Mrs. Lulu Hawk of Seaside, Ore.; and Mrs. Anna Christensen of Graettinger.

Richard and his daughter, Mary Lynn, came by plane from Washington to attend the last rites.
