Texhoma High School Class of 1928
Roy Hickman, 86, former resident of Texhoma, Texas, and resident of Amarillo, Texas since 1985, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997 in VA Medical Center hospital, Amarillo where he had been a VA Home resident since 1991. Mr. Hickman was born July 23, 1911 in Eldorado, Okla. to Jake and Mittie (Lloyd) Hickman. The parents moved to Texhoma in 1910 where Roy spent his entire life, graduating from Texhoma High School. He served in the army four years during WW2 then worked in the Texhoma Post Office from 1947 to 1969 before retiring. Roy and Virginia Lou Berry were married Jun. 29, 1947 in Texhoma. To this union a daughter Janet, was born. Virginia Lou died Mar. 3, 1989. Mr. Hickman was a member of the Texhoma Masonic Lodge # 382 and the First Baptist Church of Texhoma. Roy is survived by his daughter and granddaughter, Janet and Kaeli Michy Hickman of Amarillo, Texas. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, from the First Baptist Church in Texhoma with Rev. Terry Davidson, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in under the direction of Dawson-Welch Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Texhoma Cemetery and will be accepted at Dawson-Welch Funeral Home, 715 W. Main, Texhoma, Okla.
