Howard was the first born child of Thomas and Imogene Medley. He was born on August 12, 1941 in South St.Louis, Missouri, four months before World War II started. Times were hard during the war and both his parents worked to provide for the family. Soon after the war was over, a sister was born. In his youth he loved to fish and spent many hours in nearby Carondolet Park fishing in the lakes. He loved scouting and spent many summers at Boy Scout Camps. Soon after his first year of high school, at the age of 15, his family relocated to North St. Louis County, Missouri. He loved sports and played football and was especially fond of basketball. In his later years he played tennis, competing in many tournaments throughout the bi-state area, winning many matches. After he and his wife were married, they lived in North St. Louis County where they raised three sons. Camping was a big part of their children's youth. He and his wife loved to travel throughout the United States, and they also visited Europe, Egypt, Russia, China and many Central and South American countries. After their sons were married, he and his wife left North St. Louis County and settled in Warren County, Missouri. He was one of the founding members of Sunny Side Restoration, Inc. whose goal was to restore and maintain the forgotten Sunny Side Cemetery in Jefferson County, Missouri where many Medley relatives were interred including his great great grandparents. Howard was a dental technician for over fifty years making crowns and bridges. He owned his own dental lab and was still actively working at the time of his death. He was a Baptist throughout his life and loved to share his love of the Lord. Besides his wife, sons, and daughter-in-laws, he leaves behind seven grandchildren.
