June 11, 2008 Kokomo Tribune
Addie Temples Thieke, 100, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord and reunite with her husband on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at her home. Born in Dexter, Mo., on Sept. 19, 1907, to Charles and Mary Temples, they came to Indiana in the late 1930s to seek employment and raise their family.

She was employed at Delco Radio. She retired after 20 years of service. Being a very loving lady, she never saw a stranger. She always said, "If you want a friend, be a friend." She was loved very dearly by her family and friends. Her home was her palace. It was known as the Gathering Place. She loved having family and friends over for a big meal. There was always a place at her table for one more. Her favorite pasttime was piecing together quilt tops and mowing her 1 acre of lawn.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Cadwell, Kokomo, and Margaret Zimmerman and her husband, Stan, Muncie; a son, Thomas Thieke and his wife, Marlene, Greentown; two sisters, Evelyn Hunt and Charlene Middleton, both of Dexter, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cline Thieke; a daughter, Marilyn Buchmiller; two sons, Bill Temples and David Thieke; four brothers, four sisters, and her parents.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St., with Pastor Jeff Russell officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Kokomo. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service Saturday.

Donations in Addie's honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society or VNS Healthcare System.
