Victor Roy McLucas was born near Newcastle, IN on October 18, 1874. Victor moved with his parents to Fairbury, Nebraska in 1881 where he attended public schools. Victor graduated from the University of Nebraska with an A.B. degree in 1896. From 1896 to 1902, Victor was a teacher as well as a high school principal and school superintendent. While teaching, Victor pursued the study of law and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of Nebraska in 1900. Victor married Eva McLeod on May 30, 1900 in Winterset, Iowa. Victor completed his legal education in law school at the University of Michigan and graduated with the class of 1905. During Victor's senior year, he was chosen as one of the editorial assistants of the Michigan Law Review. Victor practiced law in Omaha, Nebraska, and was associated with the Honorable John Lee Webster. Victor and his wife, Eva, had a daughter born in Nebraska in 1909. In 1911, Victor and his family returned to the University of Michigan, where he joined the law school faculty. Victor was an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Michigan from 1911-1912. Victor moved to Santa Monica, California in 1912 with his wife, Eva, and daughter, Elizabeth, where he served as the Santa Monica City attorney from 1912-1921. Judge McLucas was appointed to the Superior Court bench in 1921. In 1929, Judge McLucas was appointed to the Appellate Division and served as presiding Judge until his sudden death from heart disease in 1933.
