He served in the Navy as a Seaman first class on the Saratoga in World War II. He was employed at Pantex for many years and retired in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hathaway Pohlman and husband, Bob, of Belton; a son, Delbert Hathaway and wife, Louise, of Winnie; three brothers, Don Rutherford of Amarillo, Paul Rutherford and wife, Janice, and Billy Rutherford and wife, Bonita, of Claude; a sister, Ann Washington of Hereford; an uncle, Henry Horn of Amarillo; two aunts, O'Nita Key of Amarillo and Mary Finley of Torrance, Calif.; a special cousin, Arlin Close and wife, Olivia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Wayne Roach and the Rev. Landy Medlock officiating.
