Mrs. Mathis leaves her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Jones, Mrs. Mike Callahand, Mrs. Wayne Harris and Mrs. Robert Callahand; three brothers, Hubert Mooney, Leland Mooney and Riley Mooney; two sisters, Mrs. Rayford Ramsey and Catherine True all of Water Valley, and seven grandchildren.
A native and lifetime resident of Yalobusha County, Mrs. Mathis was born May 26, 1914 in Coffeeville, Mississippi. She was a daughter of David M. and Sally Fielder Mooney. She was a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mathis died at 1 a.m. Friday, December 2, 1977, in Yalobusha General Hospital where she had been a patient for one week.
