J. J. Bishop Buried at Abanda Monday P.M.
J. J. Bishop, age 89 years, well known resident of Abanda, died at his home there last Sunday following a brief illness.
The deceased was a member of one of Chambers County's best-known families and had been a vital part of that section of the county for many years. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Abanda and was otherwise active for a long period of years in the affairs of that community.
Funeral service was held from the Abanda Church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. G. D. Hunt and W. W. Lankford officiating. Interment was in the (Bibby) family cemetery near *Abanda with J. E. Cutler, LaFayette, undertaker in charge.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Janie Stephens, Abanda; and Miss Dora Bishop, also of Abanda; one brother G. A. Bishop, Wadley and two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Foster of Dadeville and Mrs. Frances Stephens, Wadley.
