Funeral services for Albert"Shorty"Becking, 84, of Scottsbluff, passed away on Nov. 5, 2006 will be held Nov. 10 at St. James Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Military rites will be given by the Nebraska National Guard.Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Albert was born Nov 23,1921 in Scottsbluff to Jake and Mary(Keller)Becking. He grew up and attended Scottsbluff and Minatare schools. He married Helen Vogel on Dec. 8, 1940 at Bridgeport. He served his country during World War II. He enlisted with the United States Navy in February of 1945, and served for one year. When he returned, he lived in Bridgeport where he farmed. He later moved to Bayard where he continued to work for various farmers. In 1953 he moved to Scottsbluff where he worked for Berggren Construction. In 1965 he went to work for Lockwood Corporation for 20 years. After his retirement from Lockwood, he drove a truck for Western Sugar until ill health forced his retirement.He was a lifetime member of the church, V.F.W., and the American Legion.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Jake; and two brothers-in-law.
