As a young man Garland joined the Marines & he was really proud of that. When he got out of the Marines he came home & shortly after that he & Lena married on 12-24-32. Garland worked for many years for General Dynamics but also had a gunshop in his garage and he worked at night there. When he retired from General Dynamics his gun hobby now became a full time job. He did a lot of work for law enforcement and also built guns from scratch. Over the years he had customers from Florida and New Mexico that purchased his beautiful guns. For all the work Garland did for the city of Bowie the town fathers decided to rename the street they lived on McWilliams Dr. Very nice for them to do that.
