George was born Van Buren Twp., which now shows Brown County, Indiana. I don't know if this was always true? My family documents note it as Daviess Co., so for now will leave it at that.

The oldest child of William B. and Minerva Jane Seal Padgett. George served in the Civil War, enlisting 15 Autg 1862 with the 80th infantry, Co. B, the same unit as his uncle Simpson. He was mustered out by Capt. C. A. Cobbs Jul 1865 after serving in all battles engaged by the refiment, first at Perrysville, KY and last at Nashville, TN. He contracted mumps and erysipholas serving his country.

George married twice. first to Mary B. Hays 29 Nov 1865 at St. Mary's Catholic Church they the parents of two, Anna M b. 1867 and Minerva b. 1868. Second, he married Margaret Ann Healy 02 Oct 1875, parents to Maude E. b. 1881, George Arnold b. 1883 and Bernard Anglin b. 1891.

He was buried 04 Nov 1896 at St. John's following services at St. Simon's Catholic Church, Washington, Daviess, Indiana.
