Sam, Attie and Vicki Campbell moved to Leesburg, Florida in 1970. Upon arriving, she taught at Beverly Shores Elementary School in Leesburg, for 21 years. Her Principal was Lew Treen. Before graduating from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky, she wrote the following:

"I was born May 18, 1938 in Leslie County, Kentucky. I am the oldest of the eight children of R.C. and Edith Bowling. There are four girls and four boys in the family. When I was very young, we moved to Pine Knot, Kentucky where I lived until I graduated from high school. I attended school at Pine Knot all twelve years except for about four months that I attended a two-room school at Call Hill. Pine Knot had a total of about 500 children in grades one through twelve. Each teacher taught four grades at Call Hill. In high school, I was a member of the Glee Club and the F.H.A. for four years. When I was a senior, I was vice president of our class, part-time song leader, sales chairman for the senior yearbook and president of the Future Homemakers of America. I worked part time while in high school. I was also assistant librarian. I had many baby sitting jobs. One summer I was secretary for a gas company. I got married while in my senior year of high school. I graduated in 1956 as Salutatorian of my class. I also received the Citizenship Award and the Commercial Award. My husband and I lived in Ohio for four years. Our daughter, Vicki Diane, was born there November 20, 1957. We moved to Gray, Kentucky, my husband's birthplace, in May, 1960. In 1961, my mother died after an illness of three years, leaving five young children at home. My oldest brother and I have helped with the youth ones. The baby is now ten years old. I worked at Elicon in Corbin, Kentucky, for five years. During this time, my husband attended barber college at Lexington, Kentucky. He now owns a barber shop on Kentucky Street in Corbin. My daughter is in the seventh grade at Grays Elementary School. She has made all As since the second grade. I enjoy cooking, knitting, sewing, and reading. My family and I attend many of the football and basketball games held in the area. I have found my college years very rewarding. I hope to teach elementary school in the future and to earn my Masters degree. I have considered studying to become a remedial reading teacher. I am a member of the Nineteenth Street Church of Christ at Corbin, Kentucky. I taught the four-year-old children for about two years and the ten-year-old children for about one year. I now serve as substitute teacher for the six year old class."
