Wilbur Leo Beaton, Jr. (Buzz), age 75 passed peacefully surrounded by his family on November 9th, 2012. Buzz was the first child into the Beaton family of nine children. Buzz's family, friends and professional comrades were inspired by his integrity, loyalty and passion to excel. He had a strong faith in God, was a devoted husband, a loving and guiding father, a productive individual in his career and a proud member of the armed services. He leaves behind many, who respect him for his hard work and words of wisdom, often with a good portion of humor.
Buzz is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Francesca Maria (Fran) Beaton; his loving son Charles (Cindy) and grandsons Dino and Jonathan; son Wilbur Leo III (Svetlana) and grandchild Wilbur Leo IV; son Frank (Angelina) and grandsons Daniel (Lauren) and Frank & granddaughters Nicole and Sarah; his endearing brothers & sisters: Dan (Joyce), Margaret, Catherine (Robert) Levis, Susan Mahoney, James, Neil, Tom (Jan) and Mary (Mark) Knabel.

Buzz is predeceased by his dear mother Margaret (Brost) & father Wilbur Leo Beaton, Sr. and brother-in-law Thomas Mahoney.

Buzz grew up in Chicago and Winnetka, Illinois, where he attended Sacred Heart and Joseph Sears Elementary Schools, New Trier High School, St. Norbert College and University of Wisconsin at Madison. At the U of W, he competed in the ring as a trophy winner for the Badgers boxing team and went on to win the Wisconsin State Golden Gloves Championship.

Buzz served in the U.S. Military for 35 years: the Marine Corps, the Air Force Reserves and Office of Special Investigation (OSI) where he retired as a master seargent in 1996.

Buzz's professional career as a public and private investigative officer spanned over 43 years. Buzz founded Beaton & Associates, served as Chief Investigator at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office and retired with the Illinois State's Attorney Office.

Buzz enjoyed an active retirement life by turning the Beaton family cottages into a vacation resort, "Beaton's Lakeshore Cottages" on Lake Holcombe in Holcombe, Wisconsin where many a fisherman follow the Beaton Path.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Wilbur Beaton may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi (Flambeau) and Little Sisters of the Poor, San Pedro, CA. Visitation is at Borton – Leiser Funeral Home, Wednesday November 14th from 5-8pm, located at 220 south 7th street Cornell WI, 54732. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11:00am, Thursday November 15th at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (Flambeau) W10193 Lehmen Rd. Holcombe WI, 54745. Internment with military honors will immediately follow the Mass at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Cemetery.
