She was a homemaker, worked at St. Francis Health Center in the Dietician Department and worked on the Election Board as a supervisor.
Bernadette was a charter member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she helped with funeral dinners. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Goodyear Credit Union, the Beamer's Bottle Club, and the Moose Lodge 555 where she loved to go dancing with her husband. She enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, pie baking with her husband and was an excellent cook.
Bernadette married Celestine M. "Joe" Dreher on October 10, 1942 in Hays, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2009.
Survivors include her daughter, Shari Staehli and her husband, Jim and a son, Michael T. Dreher, all of Topeka. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Dillon M. Dreher and his wife Michelle Albano, and Lindy Brewer and her husband, Jeff; and four grandchildren, Talia S. Dreher, Nolan Brewer, Jalen Moore and Camden Brewer and a step-sister, Mary Giebler of Hays, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Elizabeth M. (Glick) Ubert, and five brothers Ferdinand Jr., Elmer, Roderick, Paul and Herbert.
Bernadette will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
