She was the matriarch of a distinguished Adair County, KY family. She was the widow of Lawrence L. Yarberry. She leaves 31 direct living descendants. Mrs.Yarberry was a member of Columbia Christian Church. She was a teacher, writer and painter who spent 17 years living in New York City where she was known for her entertaining and special way with Southern cooking, and was a housewife.

Edna Yarberry age 93 years of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 3:44amCT, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 25, 2013 at 1:30pmCT/2:30pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Terry White officiating. Interment will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT/4:30pmET, Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the funeral home.


She was born on Thursday, May 6, 1919 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ora Mae Corbin Arnold. She died Saturday, February 23, 2013, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 17 days.

She was the widow of Lawrence L. Yarberry, who preceded her in death on July 30, 1972

She is survived by the following:
Three daughters and three sons Dr. Patricia Yarberry Allen and (Doug McItyre) of New York; Claudette (Charles) Fletcher of Glensfork, KY; Debbie (Reed) Gist of Gradyville, KY Dale (Ginny) Yarberry of Texas; Stanley (Judy) Yarberry of Washington; and George (Ruth) Yarberry of Bowling Green, KY.

Brother: Edwin "Elb" Arnold of Roley.

Sisters: Lorena Wallace of Tennessee; Beulah Arnold of Campbellsville, KY; Nina Smucker of Indiana; and Yneth Broughton of Ashland, KY; and Justine Knifley of Campbellsville, KY.

Thirteen grandchildren.

Twelve great grandchildren.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
