OBITUARY - Peoria Journal Star: 20 Feb 1962

MACKINAW-Services for Anton Hovar Sr., 81, who died unexpectedly at 5:45 p.m. Sunday at the home of a son, Elmer, 107 N. Monroe, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nadig Funeral Home at Hanover. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be after 7 tonight at the Haensel Funeral Home, Mackinaw, and Wednesday evening at the Nadig Funeral home.
Mr. Hovar was born June 13, 1880, in Austria, the son of John and Frances Gerham Hocevour. He married Myrtle Sanderson Jun 16, 1921, at Galena, and she preceded him in death in 1935.
Surviving besides his son Elmer, are two sons, Anton Jr., of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Frank of Rockford; a daughter, Mrs. Augusta Heideman of Fredericksburg, Iowa; three sisters, Marie and Jennie, in Yugoslavia, and Mrs. Angela Vautar of Euclid, Ohio; and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Hovar was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and came to this country in 1903. He had lived in Mackinaw with his son since 1954.
