S.E. Boles full name was Sampson Elam Boles Jr. He always used the name of Elam Boles. He married Ida Adaline Simmons, a young widow with 3 children. He owned a huge ranch in Payson Arizona and invited her to come to Arizona from Kansas where she had been married to his brother Melvin Boles. He said he would take care of her and the children for her being his housekeeper and cook for the ranch hands. After several years they married and had one son named Sampson Edward Boles in 1904. Elam and his wife Ida are buried next to each other.
