He was the son of Lutitia Meadows Goff. We are still trying to figure out who his father is. He married Nellie J.(Knight)Daniels after her first husband went missing from the war. She died in 1876. In 1877 he married his second wife Susan Caroline Howard. He was Throckmorton County Sheriff for two years. Then he was appointed cattle agent prior to him moving to Oklahoma from Texas. He owned lots of land throughout Texas. Once he came to Oklahoma he established a large ranch in the SW corner of the state in what was known as the Washita Bottoms. He was what you would call the original Sooner. He came to Oklahoma prior to statehood. Once land was opened up to be purchased he bought more land. At one point owning 400 acres of land in the Washita bottoms area now known as Anadarko.

1st wife Nellie J (Knight) Daniels 1844 – 24 Feb 1876 She died from complications of childbirth. She had James R. and then 2 days later gave birth to Nellie J. Then 10 days after that she succumbed to complications from the births.
