She was born March 26, 1891 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late I.B. and Ada Shank Bowers.
She was a milliner and lived in Washington D.C. where she was employed by Jelleff's Department store for a number of years.
She lived in Harrisonburg since she retired in 1956. She was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church.
Surviving her are four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Bowers Tutwiler, Margie V. Bowers, and Mrs. Elizabeth Caroline Bowers, all of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Mildred B. Edwards of Charlottesville, two brothers, A. Wilmer Bowers, of Harrisonburg, and John C. Bowers of Dayton, Ohio.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church by the Rev. L.C. Huddle. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery.
