R.Q. ETZEL,
POLICE JURY
OFFICIAL, DIES

R.Q. Etzel, Sr., 56, died at 12:45 Tuesday afternoon at his home in Homer, following an illness of many months from a heart ailment. He was secretary of the Police Jury, and a former active vice president of the Homer Trust and Savings Company of that city.

The funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Methodist church in Homer. The burial was in the Homer cemetery.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, R.Q. Etzel, Jr., St. Francisville; Earl Etzel, Waco, Texas; Billie Etzel, Homer; his mother, Mrs. Mary Etzel, Clovis, New Mexico.

Mr. Etzel has been secretary of the Claiborne Police jury for many years, working always for the interest of the organization and the parish, as a whole. He handled all the clerical affairs, and had at his command at all times the figures and facts that were always needed in the monthly meetings. Without referring to the records, he could tell each ward member the amount of money to his credit, the work that had been done, and could give information of any nature regarding the financial matters that were being discussed. His service regarding the organization could be relied upon to the last word, as he had studied the business to a point where he knew every highway, every road or every project within the borders of Claiborne parish.

In the death of R.Q. Etzel, Claiborne parish has lost one of the most efficient officials that has ever served the people, one that will be greatly missed, not only by the members of the Police Jury, but by the citizens as a whole.

Mr. Etzel has hundreds of friends over the entire parish, who join with the News in extending sympathy to the bereaved family in their loss of a splendid husband and father.
