Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Mathis Anthony, 70, were held at eleven o'clock in the morning Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in Water Valley First United Methodist Church with Dr. Billy Ray Stonestreet officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Browning Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anthony died of cancer in Yalobusha General Hospital Friday, March 15, 2002.

She was born September 27, 1931 in Water Valley. She was a homemaker. Mrs, Anthony was a member of First United Methodist Church of Water Valley, and was a Lifetime Member of V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary; and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include: three sons, Claud R. Anthony of Memphis, James (Jim) R. Anthony of Tupelo and Mark Anthony of Water Valley; a daughter, Jeanette Whilehead of Water Valley; two brothers, Frank Mathis and Rayford Mathis, both of Water Valley; three sisters. Inez Maynor and Odell Maynor, both of Water Valley, and Jewel Swanson of Hazelhurst; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
